Generator Installation for John Bell House

Safety-Assured Project: Generator Setup in Central Belfast

Sentor Electrical Services was awarded a contract to install a new back-up generator for the fire lift in the John Bell House building, a student accommodation facility located in the heart of Belfast. This project was crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of the fire lift, which is a vital component in emergency situations. The installation presented a significant challenge, as the generator needed to be lifted over seven stories via crane and precisely placed onto a steel platform within the central enclosure of the building.

At the start of the project, design calculations assessed whether the existing steel platform could support the new generator. The results showed that the platform, as it was, could not safely hold the generator without risking deflection. To resolve this, Sentor designed, manufactured, and installed a galvanized steel beam to increase the platform’s strength and ensure it could safely support the generator.

With the structural modifications complete, the generator was successfully hoisted into place via crane and securely installed on the reinforced platform. Despite the logistical challenges, the project was completed efficiently and to the highest safety standards. This installation underscores Sentor Electrical Services’ expertise in handling complex projects and our commitment to delivering robust, safety-focused solutions for our clients.
